Stormy Weather: Tap and House

What skill do the best tap dancers share with the best House/Deep House vocalists? Watch the Nicholas Brothers take a mechanical background sound – the tap tapping metal plate under their shoes – and infuse it with glorious humanity. Watch their hands:

I was reminded of the Nicholas Brothers by this article in The Guardian this morning. There’s a documentary We sing and We Dance about them here.

The Nicholas Brothers reminded me of Evelyn Glennie’s TED talk “How to Truly Listen to Music” – movement is part of song. Right movement = right sound.
